The article characterizes main stages in text perception and interpretation; gives tasks for reading comprehension combined with the process of keywords searching. There are also results of the experiment which proves that the given strategy helps students to develop general competences for finding keywords as well as scientific competences.

Discussion. The article proves that the meaning of the text equals to the meaning of the set of keywords. As a result of the project a certain method of teaching was elaborated.
